Localization

• upper right portion of the abdominal cavity
• inferior to the diaphragm
• covered with peritoneum (except for bare diaphragmatic area)

Supplies
Blood supply: a.hepatica communis, a.hepatica propria, v.hepatica, v. portae
biliary tract: ductus hepaticus

Lobes
The liver is divided in the following lobes:

• lobus dexter (to the right of the porta hepatis)
• lobus sinister (to the left of lig.teres and lig.venosum)
• lobus caudatus (between lig.venosum and impression of v.cava)
• lobus quadratus (between lig.teres and impression of gall bladder)

N.B. Be aware that the functional subdivision differs from the anatomical one.
