Liver
Localization
- upper right portion of the abdominal cavity
- inferior to the diaphragm
- covered with peritoneum (except for bare diaphragmatic area)
Supplies
Blood supply:
a.hepatica communis, a.hepatica propria,
v.hepatica, v. portae
biliary tract: ductus hepaticus
Lobes
The liver is divided in the following lobes:
- lobus dexter (to the right of the porta hepatis)
- lobus sinister (to the left of lig.teres and lig.venosum)
- lobus caudatus (between lig.venosum and impression of v.cava)
- lobus quadratus (between lig.teres and impression of gall bladder)
N.B. Be aware that the
functional subdivision differs from the anatomical one.
